The BOYA BY-XM6-S2 Mini Lavalier Microphone features a dual-channel wireless microphone system, consisting of 2 transmitters and 1 receiver, for 1-2-person vlogs, youtube videos, streaming, interviews or podcasts.
Each transmitter has an Omnidirectional microphone, a hinged clip on the back for easy mounting, and a headphone port on the receiver to monitor recorded audio in real time.
It has 100 metres (or 328ft) of wireless range, making it ideal for recording in open space environments or when talking to a camera from a distance.
It comes with various cables to power and plug into a number of devices, from dedicated DSLR cameras to smartphones and computers.
The on-screen display carries enough information, although I found it hard to tell which transmitter was A or B. The microphone is very sensitive, so I found level 2 out of 6 was the best. Without a charging case, you have to use many cables to charge them. With no display on the transmitter, you can’t tell what their volume buttons are doing, and there isn’t a smart way to clip the receiver onto your phone.
The BOYA it’s not the cheapest wireless recording solution, but as you can tell from this video, its recording quality is decent and the transmitters and receiver are small enough to pack away when on the move.
