MagBak Charging Stand Review: A Minimalist’s Dream for 3-in-1 Charging

In this review, I look at the MagBak 3-in-1 Wireless MultiCharger Stand. You can buy this wireless charger for $67.15 directly from MagBak’s online store here – https://bit.ly/magbakcharger.

TLDR: The MagBak Charging Stand impresses with its sleek design, compact footprint, reliable 3-in-1 wireless charging, and smart usability features, making it a strong contender for nightstand or desktop use.

I’ve reviewed many charging stands, both premium and budget, and I find there is always a compromise somewhere in the product that just doesn’t quite tick all the boxes. It can be the placement of charging pads, their materials, or even their ability to successfully recharge all three devices at once. Usually, something falls short. But when MagBak asked me to review their charging stand, it looked like it would tick all the boxes for me. Let’s dive in and see if it does so in practice.

Unboxing and Design

In the box, you get a paper instruction manual, the charging stand itself, and a 30w USB-C wall adapter to power the stand via its tethered USB-C cable.

This stand is quite unique looking. Made from aluminium with a space grey finish, it looks sleek and different from many other 3-in-1 stands available today. It offers a very small and narrow footprint with a sloped metal face that features a magnetic/MagSafe charging pad at the top of the front face. The metal angle bends over 90 degrees at the very tip to house a wireless charging point at the top of the stand for an Apple Watch. Underneath this overhang, on the base of the stand, is the third charging pad, primarily used for wirelessly charging a pair of Apple AirPods or any other Qi-compatible wireless accessory or phone. All of this fits into a footprint that measures just 98.1 x 54.2 mm, which becomes very handy for a charging nightstand.

Charging Performance and Features

The stand is capable of charging all three mentioned devices at once. At the bottom of the sloping face, just before it curves into the stand’s base, are three colour LED lights: red for the base charger plate, green for the Apple Watch charging point, and blue for the main magnetic charging point.

If you plan on using this dock on a nightstand beside your bed, like I do, you’ll be happy to hear these LEDs turn off after around a minute of initial charging. Unlike many other stands I’ve used, there’s no light that will illuminate a dark bedroom. Box ticked.

Its nano-grip base material helps fix the stand firmly to any flat surface. A simple nudge won’t push this stand over, making placing your phone on and off the stand a breeze. No sliding across the desktop surface—yet another box ticked.

With Qi2 charging power, the MagBak stand manages to charge devices efficiently. For me, as long as my iPhone and other devices are fully charged by the following morning, it can take as long as it wants. Thanks to Qi2 charging speeds, a potential 15w of power is more than sufficient for most people. Tick.

As for the Apple Watch and AirPods, you’ll get decent levels of charging for the watch and for the rear base plate. Again, more than enough for these devices to be fully charged by morning.

Build Quality and Styling

The space grey colour of the metal stand is either going to work or clash with your interior decor. Against a white table surface, it stands out. The grey braided power cable could have been removable or offered in white for better visual integration, but it’s not a dealbreaker. If you have a darker desktop or table surface, this stand will blend in nicely.

Daily Use and Final Thoughts

After over a week of daily use, how did this stand fare? And did it tick all my boxes? In summary, I’d say it did very well. Again, I had to compromise slightly on its design. I would have preferred the rear-facing charger for AirPods to be more easily accessible from the front. But otherwise, devices sat and hung off this stand without any issues, and charging was solid, with only a few minor reconnections occurring from devices entering or exiting their battery health charging states.

For $67.15 (using my coupon code CPL15), the MagBak stand may seem a little pricey compared to cheaper brands, but it’s a bargain compared to more premium, less capable, or poorly designed alternatives.

Its striking, unique one-piece metal design, small footprint, and 3-in-1 charging versatility make the MagBak stand worth adding to your shortlist if you’re looking for a minimalist and sleek charging stand for your desktop or nightstand surface.

TIMESTAMPS:The MagBak Charging Stand impresses with its sleek design, compact footprint, reliable 3-in-1 wireless charging, and smart usability features, making it a strong contender for nightstand or desktop use.
