In this video, I revisit the well-reviewed Bruxe R6 AI Box adapter and answer your questions. You can buy this dongle for $199 for the 4GB+64GB model and $210.32 for the (recommended) 8GB+128GB model directly from the BRUXE online store here – https://bit.ly/bruxer6aibox using my 12% off coupon code CARPLAYLIFE at checkout.

The earlier review featured an earlier sample, and recently Bruxe sent me a production version, which had a few software updates applied to since my first review. So I thouight I’d take a look at what’s new and answer a few questions you have about the R6 AI Box.

The final version of the R6 offers a few refinements. The key takeaways are its a little faster in its benchmarks and app launch times over the first edition I reviewed. It adds a new 60fps mode, however I incured some issues with YouTube with this option enabled, returning back to 30fps mode gave similar video performance results to the earlier sample text.

Issues with gaming audio still occured in this update and speaking with Bruxe tells me this issue will not be resolved due to hardware limitations, however, there are other 6225 AI boxes that are able to run audio just fine without doing any work arounds, and they also don’t suffer with the crackling noises during gameplay either.

Diving into the factory menu > other page uncovered a feature that allows the R6 to run over the Android Auto protocol. Great for those without Android Auto on their CarPlay-only car system; however, those without CarPlay will need to boot the AI Box on this platform to be able to make the switch. Unlike the CarlinKit UHD and one other AI Box, which can switch from CarPlay to Android Auto protocol with a simple pin and a physical switch.

The production version in this updated video proves that the R6 AI Box from Bruxe is still the best-performing Qualcomm 6225 chipset you can buy right now. It benchmarks a little higher than my earlier sample, and launches my test apps a little quicker, also. There is a slight hit on wireless CarPlay and Android Auto pairing times, but the difference is insignificant to worry about.

If you’re looking for a solid AI Box for your Apple CarPlay car system (or Android Auto car system with the mentioned work around), then the Bruxe R6 should definitely be on your short list.
