For anyone seeking an affordable way to go wireless in their vehicle, the new MSXTTLY Mini 2-in-1 Adapter brings impressive performance and versatility in a tiny package. This update to their 2023 2-in-1 adapter I have reviewed, is designed to convert your factory-wired CarPlay or Android Auto system into a completely wireless experience. This latest model from MSXTTLY improves upon its predecessors with faster Bluetooth pairing, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, and a much smaller footprint.
Unboxing and First Impressions
Inside the box, the MSXTTLY Mini 2-in-1 Adapter comes well presented. You get the adapter itself, a USB-A to USB-C converter, an adhesive pad for dashboard mounting, and a short extension adapter for easier access to your vehicle’s USB port. The adapter has a sleek carbon-fibre-style casing with combined CarPlay and Android Auto branding on the front and an LED indicator light for status feedback.
Its small design makes it easy to stow away inside a centre console, and it’s especially suited to vehicles where the USB port sits inside a cubby hole, such as the Cupra Born used in this review.
Setup and Wireless CarPlay Performance
Setting up the MSXTTLY is straightforward. Plug it into your vehicle’s CarPlay USB port, wait for it to boot, and connect your iPhone or Android via Bluetooth. Within seconds, the system transitions to wireless CarPlay. Total boot times into CarPlay are impressively short: 12.03 seconds for CarPlay. This may not be the fastest booting adapter, but its faster than the 2in1 it has replaced from MSXTTLY and it positions itself in 4th place in my performance sheet.
Once connected, the experience feels smooth and responsive. Almost wirelessly native. Navigation apps like Apple Maps and Google Maps are displayed clearly, with full support on both platforms for turn-by-turn directions on the instrument cluster and head-up display. Audio playback was crisp, with no average timings in touch input to audio delay in Spotify, and the steering wheel controls for track skipping and voice commands worked flawlessly. Call quality was also solid with a very decent 0.15-second call delay, and puts this adapter in the top 3 of the best available in that category.
Wireless Android Auto Performance
Switching to Android Auto is just as easy. The adapter automatically reboots into Android mode once paired with a compatible Android phone and even has its own boot menu screen for Android Auto, removing any doubt from its connection status and support with Android Auto car systems. From boot-up, the Android Auto interface loaded quickly in 19.03 seconds, and its overall operation runs smoothly, showing very little latency in navigation or app switching. The microphone and 0.12-second call delay performance were excellent, and the system resumed playback automatically after reconnection.
Heat and Stability Testing
During some extended use, the adapter maintained stable operation without any random disconnections or crashes. Using a thermal camera, the adapter measured around 44°C at its hottest point, well within safe operating temperatures. The vented rear casing design helps dissipate heat efficiently, making it suitable for longer drives or hot climates.
Pricing and Final Verdict
Retailing on Amazon for $49.99, with a regular $10 discount coupon available, the MSXTTLY Mini 2-in-1 Adapter offers excellent value for money. It’s fast, compact, and compatible with both major smartphone platforms, making it one of the more practical plug-and-play adapters on the market today.
While it doesn’t have a completely flush fit design like some newer models I’ve reviewed recently, it still packs impressive performance into its miniature form factor. For most users, this little adapter will easily justify its cost the moment you start your car and your phone connects wirelessly — every single time.
If you’re looking for an affordable way to upgrade your existing CarPlay or Android Auto setup to wireless without compromising performance, the MSXTTLY Mini 2-in-1 adapter is an excellent choice. It performs well in both ecosystems, looks great, and is small enough to stay out of sight while you enjoy a seamless, cable-free driving experience.
