CarLinkit 2.0 Wireless Apple CarPlay Dongle on a Pioneer SPH-DA120 AppRadio 4 Receiver

We’ve looked at the CarLinkit 2.0 wireless Apple CarPlay dongle in previous videos. This dongle is the second generation to the original CarLinkit dongle, that allows existing wired Apple CarPlay systems to function wirelessly instead.

In this video, we install the dongle in our Pioneer demo pod which has a Pioneer AppRadio4 / SPH-DA120 installed into it. We get it installed and running on one of the first early aftermarket CarPlay systems from Pioneer. Check out the speed from boot-up, switching tracks and general performance of this second generation of wireless Apple CarPlay dongles.

Using USB-C and 5.8 GHz wireless protocol, the CarLinkit 2.0 feels slightly faster, however, the boot time is pretty much the same experience as previous generations. Integration and navigation do feel slightly faster between commands and display on the screen, as well as audio delay.
