Wireless High Resolution CarPlay Receivers Will Showcase At CES 2018

With 2018 just around the corner, news has started to break-out before the upcoming CES 2018 event in Las Vegas kicks off in just over a weeks time.

JVC Kenwood in particular have been a little vocal about what they will be announcing at the upcoming technological event. A pair of receivers with high resolution displays and wireless connectivity will be unveiled at the show.

The pair of receivers will be branded individually, one as JVC and the other under the premium Kenwood brand. They will each pack a 1280×720 resolution display, which is a positive step forward, away from the more standard 800×480 resolution found in most CarPlay receivers since, well forever!

2018 will be a year about ‘wireless’ too. Both receivers will bring wireless Android Auto connectivity, so with all the wireless Wi-Fi technology inside, it only seems appropriate to also support wireless CarPlay too, however support for Apple’s wireless CarPlay is yet to be confirmed.

With the only wireless CarPlay options from Alpine and the factory fitted BMW, we look forward to more wireless CarPlay announcements to follow in 2018, with rumours that we will also hear wireless receiver announcements from Pioneer in the new year too.

We’ll have all the CarPlay news as it breaks during CES 2018, which kicks off on January 7th through to the 12th, with announcements possibly occurring before and after the event.
