Sony released just one new Apple CarPlay receiver to attendies at this year’s CES 2019.
The new XAV-AX7000 features the same 6.95-inch capacitive touchscreen display as the AX5000, but with this new model from Sony there is a high-power 100W (instead of 55W) class-D amplifier and a high-power 5V (instead of 2V) pre-out for clear sound with less distortion.
Another addition is a dedicated voice button, located on the bottom right of the front-facing function buttons. Other thank this, the unit is pretty much the same as the AX5000, which include slim bezels, physical buttons for volume, home, option and skip.
The AX7000 is a wired only receiver, so anyone hoping for a wireless Sony Apple CarPlay receiver will have to wait until later this year for any new announcements.
The Sony XAV-AX7000 will be available in North America during the Summer 2019, with a price yet to be announced. Seeing as there is very little differences between this and the AX5000 expect it to float around the $399.99 mark.
