Before CES 2016 could even kick-off, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced that their firth-generation infotainment automobile system, Uconnect, will feature Apple CarPlay support to a select line-up of their vehicles in 2016.
“The Uconnect team is evolving Uconnect and making it even better,” said Joni Christensen, Head of Uconnect Marketing, FCA US LLC. “With the launch of the fourth generation of Uconnect systems, we are continuing to minimize the everyday stresses of busy lifestyles by providing drivers with a variety of ways to stay conveniently connected to their vehicles, while making every drive exceptionally informative, entertaining and unique.”
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will introduce a portfolio of Connect systems in 2016 that include capacitive touchscreens, performance improvements of faster startup time, enhanced processing power, heightened touchscreen responsiveness, vivid touchscreens with improved resolution and brightness, the Connect 8.4-inch NAV system, and select others within the global portfolio will include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
FCA will be exhibiting a massive 12.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen system (above) for the Dodge Charger Pursuit police vehicle, and no FCA has no plans to release this 12.1 touchscreen to us consumers – Damn it! However they could, to compete with Tesla’s 17-inch display and Volvo’s 9.5-inch display.
Look out over 2016 for Apple CarPlay in select Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep Models.
