Mazda is continuing with its Apple CarPlay rollout after releasing support in its 2018 Mazda6 models, shown above, with the introduction of its 2019 CX-9 vehicle.
Apple CarPlay will come as standard in Touring, Touring Premium, Grand Touring, and Signature trims of the 2019 CX-9, thanks to the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system with its eight-inch display.
The 2019 CX-9 is expected to roll out in select dealerships in the United States this month, with nationwide availability in September. Pricing for CarPlay-equipped packages starts at $35,330.
There is good news for existing 2018 Mazda6 owners. Starting in September, owners of the Touring option and above, who can visit a Mazda dealership and have its CarPlay and Android Auto update installed at no extra cost. From November Apple CarPlay will come factory installed in new 2018 Mazda6 vehicles.
With Apple CarPlay, iPhone owners will have easy access to a range of popular apps on their Apple CarPlay display, including Messages, Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, WhatsApp, SiriusXM Radio, iHeart Radio, Overcast, Pandora, Stitcher and many more. With the release of iOS 12 this year, owners will also be able to run Google Maps and Waze navigation apps.
