Alpine will be releasing its second universal aftermarket receiver with Apple CarPlay to market soon, possibly even ahead of their upcoming wireless CarPlay receiver, the ilX-107.
Available for preorder from some retailers in Australia, the iLX-702D features a 7-inch Capacitive touchscreen with built in Android Auto and Apple CarplayCarplay. Other key features include DAB+ radio, reverse camera input, HDMI, connect up to 5 Bluetooth devices for hands free and music streaming, FLAC support, 3x 4 volt RCA output with 9 band parametric EQ and 6ch time correction. RRP is set at $999 AUD (around £570).
The most interesting part is at the back of the unit, which looks like a single DIN slot, similar to their INE-W997D form factor. There is a CD/DVD additional option to this unit, which means space is saved around the back. This probably isn’t a solution for people with a single DIN slot, but like the iLX-700/007, it makes installation much easier for people with limited space behind the dash.
Further details and prices are limited from official channels, but it shows Alpine are set to bring more CarPlay receivers to market over the course of this year, which is great news for us all.
