CarPlay Life has been recently informed that a ‘CarPlay OEM App’ has been published from a Spanish car manufacturer, belonging to the VW Group – so that is very likely to be SEAT, then.
Depending on when the app actually launches to the public, this app could be the first from a major car manufacture to reach the market.
No further details on the app has been shared, such as what it actually does with Apple’s CarPlay. It could be the first we see of the apps that interact with the vehicle’s in-car systems, such as accessing temperature controls and vehicle diagnostics like tyre pressures, oil levels etc.
Until we hear more of an official word on this app, we’ll flag this as rumour. But if true, we soon could have more apps on our CarPlay displays that aren’t just radio apps, and that is always welcome!
