    What is the climate app?

I believe this is probably the connection between the BMW OEM controls and what CarPlay is able to display. So pressing on the Climate, Parking Assist and AUX icons will launch or play those specific functions directly from the Car’s own systems. It’s just that they appear in the form of app icons.

I don’t think they are actually specific apps.

[Edit: Ah yes, it shows the home screen of the Alpine. So we are outside of CarPlay here. Aux, Radio and Park Assist are all functions from the Alpine. Climate must be coming from the BMW’s system controls.]

There is a way to connect it also in aftermarket units? It’s awesome!

I believe so, as what you see here is an aftermarket receiver from Alpine. It comes down to the car it is installed in and whether it can receive such information to display and/or interact with via the headunit.

I think this is something that the CarPlay software wants to also do, but more for factory install systems, rather than aftermarket.
